This Privacy Policy describes how ALESMARC Pty Ltd (ABN 31645641649) ("we," "us," or "the Company") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the BuyCal website (buycal.com.au) and the BuyCal mobile application (collectively, the "Product").
We are committed to protecting your privacy. BuyCal is designed as a "local-first" tool, meaning the vast majority of the data you generate stays under your direct control on your own device.
1. DATA STORAGE AND LOCAL PROCESSING
Unlike many business applications, BuyCal does not require you to create an account to use its core features.
Calculations and Folders: All landed costs, RRP calculations, margins, and folders you create are stored exclusively on your device's local storage.
Notes and Photos: Any notes you write or photos you attach to calculations via your device's photo picker are stored only on your device.
No Cloud Sync: We do not host your calculation data on our servers. Consequently, deleting the BuyCal app will result in the permanent deletion of all data stored within the app, unless you have manually exported your data as a CSV or PDF.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
While the Product is designed to minimize data collection, we may collect the following information in specific circumstances:
Email Newsletter (Optional): If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter for product updates and tips, we collect your email address. This information is processed by our third-party provider, MailerLite. You must confirm your subscription via a double opt-in process.
Usage Information: When you visit our website, we may collect standard log information and details of visitor behavior patterns to improve our user experience.
Currency Data Requests: When using the "Currency Check" feature, the app sends a request to open.er-api.com to retrieve live exchange rates. This request identifies the currency pair requested but does not transmit your personal identity or calculation data to the API provider.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain the Product.
To send you the newsletter (only if you have expressly opted in).
To respond to support requests or feedback sent to support@alesmarc.com.
To analyze website traffic and improve our business consulting tools.
4. CALCULATIONS DISCLAIMER (NO BUSINESS OR FINANCIAL ADVICE)
BuyCal may generate calculations, pricing outputs, landed-cost estimates, margins, and other figures based on the information you input and the settings you choose. All such outputs are suggestions and informational only and do not constitute business advice, financial guidance, or direct business direction.
You are responsible for independently verifying all figures and assumptions before making decisions or relying on the outputs, including by confirming details with relevant third parties such as suppliers, freight agents, customs authorities, and financial advisors (as applicable).

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: We share your email address with MailerLite solely for the purpose of delivering our newsletter.

App Data: Security of the data stored on your device is subject to your device's own security settings (passcodes, biometrics, and encryption).
